Georg Oehlhorn and Sally Kahn founded OEKAMETALL in Bamberg/Germany in 1914.  In its early years, the company manufactured metal components for the electrical engineering industry and caps for the cosmetics industry.

The manufacturing of plastic parts (Duroplaste) started after 1920. The company has experienced continual growth after 1945.  In the field of metal processing, OEKAMETALL mainly focuses on the manufacturing of deep drawn parts on transfer presses and using progressive compound tools. Injection molding of plastic parts has become another core competence.

After 1950, OEKAMETALL manufactured lipstick cases and later mascara containers for the cosmetics industry. Several surface finishing technologies, such as lacquering, high-vacuum metallization or hot foil stamping, complete the manufacturing range.  Assembly has become another important field of activity of our company.

OEKAMETALL processes an increasing number of stainless steels and manufactures more and more assemblies for the automotive industry. The internationalization of the markets after 1980 has required a profound adaptation of the company structures. The export share has increased to more than 70% of the turnover. Consistent automation and rationalization have allowed the company to cope with increasing price pressure.

In 2006, OEKAMETALL founded CCO GmbH in Korbußen near Gera in Thuringia. CCO GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of OEKAMETALL, specializes in the (UV) varnishing of plastic and metal parts based on through-feed technology, and in the high-vacuum metallization of parts. The subsidiary therefore ideally complements OEKAMETALL’s core competences in the field of surface finishing.
